Named Chicago’s Latest Royalty by Vintage Guitar Magazine, Guy King was born in Israel. His 2016 album, Truth, reached #1 on the Blues Contemporary Chart and earned him a Blues Music Award (BMA) nomination for Best Emerging Artist. His most recent release, Joy is Coming, is an autobiographical album that showcases his songwriting chops and brings to mind Bill Withers, Eric Clapton and Steely Dan while presenting King’s true artistic voice.

Cactus Crown Studios Rachel Ramirez

2023 Featured Artist

My name is Rachel Ramirez, and I am an illustrator, expressive portrait artist and art educator living in Midland Texas with my husband and three boys. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in 2007 and a teachers certification EC-12 in 2008.

I work mainly with the human figure and narrative art. As a 90’s kid, I grew up on cable TV and the outdoors. No fancy rivers or streams here, just mesquite bushes to dodge, lizards and toads to chase and my imagination in the hot Texas brush. I like to incorporate my experiences with nature into my art. That’s why I include cacti in many of my pieces for their resilience, strength and personal nostalgia, thus the name for my art business is Cactus Crown Studios, which I started in 2021.
